The Spring Clean Reset: Decluttering and Organizing Tips You Need
I love a seasonal reset, and this Spring is no different. Check out some of my top cleaning, organization, and decluttering tips for Spring below!
Why A Seasonal Reset (aka Spring Cleaning) Is a Must For An Organized Home
Spring cleaning is a yearly phenomenon that hits across the country - we open our windows, finally put away our crockpot, swap out our linens, and tuck away our warm clothes until next fall. That being said, spring cleaning isn’t the only time our homes and spaces need a reset. As a professional organizer, I know that breaking down tasks into bite size daily, weekly, monthly & quarterly to-do lists is much more realistic than going all out for a day of two of spring cleaning once a year!
So, although these tips apply specifically to spring cleaning, know that it’s essential to apply this mindset quarterly as the seasons shift. These seasonal decluttering, organization, and household routine tips will keep your home feeling fresh and peaceful as each new quarter comes - and maintaining them over time means WAY less to do when spring rolls around.
Still not quite sure where to start? I’ve got a BIG project in the works - a household management binder that is going to tell you EXACTLY what to do each day, month, and season to keep your home a peaceful, clean, and organized sanctuary! Make sure you subscribe and follow us on socials so you don’t miss its release!

Decluttering, Cleaning & Household Routines to Apply Each Season
Before you jump straight into organizing, decluttering and cleaning is essential. To easily declutter, grab a couple garage bags or shipping boxes, and label them trash, donate, and sell or give away. Set a 15 minute timer and walk through your house, seeing what you can get done. I recommend doing this everyday for a week - then make sure to schedule it on your calendar once a quarter as the seasons shift! As you remove items from shelves or storage, bring along a cleaning cloth and all purpose spray to wipe down each area to remove any built up dust.
Not sure where to start decluttering? Start with an easy win! Here’s some places to hit this spring for maximum decluttering purposes: winter clothing that is worn out, seasonal decor you didn’t use over the holidays, clothing your kiddos have outgrown, expired food & spices, trash from your paperwork pile, winter holiday crafting and project supplies you didn’t get to, and cold weather bedding and blankets that weren’t used.
Make sure to schedule time at the end of your week to drop items off for donation, consignment, or to a friend in need! Remember - many times your item still has life left in it, and there is someone out there who could really benefit from it! Not sure what to do with something? I’ve recently been loving local swip swap and buy nothing groups to keep items within your community.
What’s ONE problem area within your home you can tackle this spring?
Focusing On Organizing One Problem Area At A Time
I’ll be honest, organizing can be downright addicting! As you see and enjoy the benefits of each organized space, it’s easy to jump from project to project and become overwhelmed - and over budget! That’s why I recommend choosing ONE problem area to tackle each season. Then, at the end of each year, you will have FOUR organized spaces within your home!
Take a few minutes to reflect - what’s one space within your home that is a massive headache for you currently? Is it a drop zone that’s become a dumping ground? Your pantry that’s full of expired food? Your personal bedroom that no longer feels peaceful and calm as you get ready each morning? Choosing one place that you can declutter, deep clean, and organize this spring is going to feel SO good - and completing a project from start to finish is much more productive than becoming overwhelmed with an entire house.
